Feeling Good, Feeling Great

ELGIN, Ill. --- The first meeting between IU South Bend and Judson required five sets and a comeback from the Titans. Thursday night's rematch was a much different story.

IU South Bend found the answers in two tight opening frames before taking complete control in the third, earning a 25-23, 26-24, 25-12 road sweep over the Eagles. The victory improved IUSB to 14-16 overall and 10-6 in CCAC play while giving the Titans their third consecutive win — all coming in straight sets. The win also locked the Titans into a top-four seed for the CCAC Tournament.

Judson made the opener difficult, holding an advantage late in the frame before IU South Bend battled its way back. The Titans stayed composed down the stretch and escaped with the 25-23 victory behind contributions from throughout the lineup.

Set two brought another test. IUSB built a 21-17 lead, only for Judson to rally and eventually even the score at 24-24. The Titans did not let the set slip away. A Judson service error put IUSB back in front before Olivia Ringer delivered an ace to close out the 26-24 win.

There was far less drama in the third.

IU South Bend broke away early with a run that created a 10-3 advantage and never looked back. The Titans continued building separation throughout the frame, holding Judson to six kills and forcing nine attacking errors as the Eagles finished the set with a negative hitting percentage. IUSB cruised to the 25-12 win to complete the sweep.

Brynn Lake helped keep the Titan offense organized throughout the night, finishing with a team-high 20 assists, five digs and two service aces. Mallorie Elliott added nine assists, five digs and two aces as IUSB continued to receive production from both setters.

Emalee Maesch stepped up with a strong all-around performance, leading the Titans with eight kills on .231 hitting while adding 10 digs. Her steady production helped IUSB navigate the tight opening two sets before pulling away in the third.

The Titans also received an extremely efficient night from Kate Dole, who put away six kills on 10 attacks without an error for a .600 hitting percentage. Bree Lake matched Dole with six kills on .267 hitting, while Alyssa Carson added six kills of her own.

Kadence Brumitt led IUSB defensively with 12 digs, while Georgi Patten followed her season-best performance at Mount Mary with four kills on .286 hitting and three digs. Ringer added two aces as the Titans finished with seven from the service line.

IU South Bend hit .207 as a team while holding Judson to .076, including a -.079 mark in the final set. The Titans also committed just three service errors in another steady team performance.

Thursday's victory marked the ninth sweep of the season for IU South Bend and continued an impressive run of three straight-set wins.

The Titans now return to the Student Activities Center for Senior Day on Tuesday, when they host Governors State at 7:00 pm.
