Second-Half Run Pushes IU South Bend Past Judson

ELGIN, Ill. --- The second half belonged to IU South Bend on Wednesday night, as the team cruised to a road victory. The Titans took down Judson for an 81-70 win at the Lindner Fitness Center, thanks to 46-33 second half.

The Titans (15-8, 10-5 CCAC) weathered an early challenge from the Eagles, trailing by as many as 12 points in the first half. Judson controlled much of the opening period behind hot perimeter shooting, but IU South Bend began to find its footing late.

Down 33-24, the Titans delivered an 11-0 run over a span of two minutes and change prior to halftime. Mark White sparked the surge with an and-one finish, while also capping it with a steal and score that flipped the momentum. The rally helped trim the deficit to 37-35 at the break and set the tone for what followed.

IU South Bend showed up ready to play in the final period with a 25-2 run, turning a 39-35 deficit into a commanding 60-41 lead. The stretch featured suffocating defense, holding Judson to 0-8 shooting and five turnovers in an eight-minute stretch. CJ Hornbeak was at the center of the rally, pouring in 13 points, including three triples that blew the game open.

The Titans pushed the advantage to as many as 20 points midway through the half and never allowed Judson to seriously threaten the lead the rest of the way.

Hornbeak finished with 15 points, while Mark White led all scorers with 20 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting night. Ethan Hill added 13 points, and AJ Dunn was perfect from the floor, scoring eight points on 4-of-4 shooting off the bench. Kyle Olagbegi chipped in eight points, six rebounds, and four assists, helping anchor the interior during the decisive run.

IU South Bend shot 57.6 percent from the field, dominated the paint 52-30, and turned 15 Judson turnovers into 20 points, showcasing the balance and defensive pressure that fueled the win.

The Titans will return home for Senior Day on Saturday, hosting Calumet College of St. Joseph at 3:00 pm.
