A Stupendous Senior Day

SOUTH BEND --- Senior Day at Newton Park brought two wins and plenty of excitement for IU South Bend. The Titans opened the afternoon with a 9-1 run-rule victory over Mount Mary before closing the day with a 3-0 shutout of Judson.

Game One: IU South Bend 9, Mount Mary 1 (5 innings)

In the heart of the lineup, Peyton Norman and Jade Baker set the tone for game one, combining to go a perfect 6-for-6 with five runs scored.

In the opening frame, Baker singled and Grace Swangin reached, leading to Peyton Norman launching a three-run home run to give IU South Bend early control at 3-0. Norman finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs, adding a double later in the game.

IU South Bend added four runs in the second inning and two more in the fourth to secure the five-inning decision. McKenzie Timm earned the win in the circle, allowing just one run over five innings while striking out three.

Game Two: IU South Bend 3, Judson 0

Hamilton tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits and striking out five over seven innings. She worked out of pressure situations and kept Judson from breaking through.

Offensively, the Titans capitalized in the second inning. Jade Baker delivered an RBI single to open the scoring, and Elyse Starr followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

In the fourth, Grace Swangin added an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.

Hamilton picked up her fifth win of the season, while also notching her sixth complete game.

The afternoon also served as a celebration for seniors Jade Baker and Grace Swangin, who were recognized for their careers at IUSB in between the two games. 

The Titans will look to continue their strong play on Thursday, battling at Judson beginning at 4:00 pm ET.
