Titans Wrap Regular Season with Nail-Biter

LA CROSSE, Wis. --- The regular season came to a close for the Titans of IU South Bend on Sunday with another tightly contested matchup at Viterbo, falling 3-2 in La Crosse.

Viterbo struck first in the opening inning on a sacrifice RBI, but the Titans answered quickly in the second.

After Reece Douglass walked to reach first, Chelminiak launched a two-run home run to give IU South Bend a 2-1 lead. The blast marked her fourth home run of the season and provided the Titans with early momentum.

Jaylah Harlan worked three solid innings to open the game before Savannah Hamilton took over in relief for the final three frames. The duo combined for three runs allowed and seven strikeouts.

IU South Bend managed six hits in the contest, including singles from Harlan, Hamilton, Douglass, Peyton Norman, and Grace Swangin. However, the Titans were unable to push across a late equalizer over the final four innings.

Despite the loss, IU South Bend secured the No. 6 seed in the upcoming CCAC Tournament. The Titans will travel to Crown Point, Indiana, where tournament play begins Wednesday.
