Game Recap: IU South Bend 9, Trinity Christian 3

It was a tumultuous start for the Titans, as the first six batters for the Trolls reached base. A bases loaded jam led to a quick 3-0 lead for TCC.

Hamilton entered after a 40 minute game delay due to field issues and immediately helped stabilize the game, stranding runners and keeping the deficit manageable. From there, the offense got the job done.

Reece Douglass ignited the comeback with a solo home run in the second. Later in the inning, Peyton Norman followed with a two-run blast to tie the game at 3-3.

IU South Bend never trailed again and found a way to score in each inning after the first.

Grace Swangin delivered an RBI single in the third to give the Titans the lead. In the fourth, Jaylah Harlan executed a sacrifice bunt to score a run before Hamilton reached on an error to add another.

The Titans continued to add insurance. Elyse Starr drove in a run in the fifth, and Norman capped the scoring with a two-run double in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-3.

IU South Bend finished with 17 hits for the second time on Wednesday. Six Titans picked up multiple hits with Douglass leading the way at 4-4 with three runs scored.

In the circle, Hamilton was dominant. She tossed 6.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just five hits while striking out nine.

With the win, IU South Bend remained in the upper bracket and secured its best CCAC Tournament run in its history. The Titans will face top-seeded Saint Xavier at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday for a spot in the CCAC Championship game.
