Jess Alexander

Jess Alexander begins her second season as a graduate assistant for the Indiana University South Bend Women’s Basketball program.

During the Titans’ 2018-2019 season, Alexander served in a variety of roles that included assisting in practice planning and preparation, scout team duties and game preparation.

Alexander played her senior season (2017-2018) for IU South Bend and helped lead the Titans to a 16-14 record.  While starting all 30 games, she led the team in rebounds, assists, steals, free throws attempted and free throws made and averaged 7.8 points per game.  Following the season, she was named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Academic Team.  She was also named a 2018 Daktronics NAIA Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete.

The native of Granger, IN transferred to IU South Bend in December 2017 after playing 2-1/2 seasons at Saginaw Valley State University.  She enjoyed a stellar freshman season that saw her start all 28 games and average 8.9 points per game.  Her sophomore and junior seasons at SVSU were cut short by injuries.

Alexander prepped at Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN, compiling a career record of 92-11.  She helped Penn win 4 Northern Indiana Conference Championships, 4 Sectional Championships, 3 Regional Championships, 2 Semi-State Championships and were the Class 4A State Runners-up in 2011 and 2014.  Following her senior season she was named Team Captain, Team Co-MVP, BroadcastSport.net 2014 Most Outstanding Player, Northern Indiana Conference 2nd Team and AP High Honorable Mention Indiana All-State.  Jess was also selected to play in the 2014 McDonald’s Michiana All-Star Game where she earned game MVP honors.
