Kyle Schutts began working with the IU South Bend women's basketball, softball, and volleyball teams in 2017 as the strength & conditioning coach, contracted through Beacon Health System.  Prior to his arrival in South Bend, he worked as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Minnesota Twins, and as a Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at Long Beach State University.  Since 2016 he has served as the Sports Performance Coordinator for Beacon Health System, overseeing the daily training and operations of the Sports Performance Center. 

While gaining experience at the NCAA Division I and professional ranks, Kyle conducted Sport Science research exploring the impact different coaching cues have on performance of explosive movements.  His research has been published in scientific journals by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.  He has presented on the topic of improving performance through coaching at regional and national conferences.  It is his goal to provide the highest quality instruction to all athletes while also decreasing the learning curve for complex skills.

Kyle earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Indiana University in 2008, and a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Motor Control/Learning from Long Beach State University in 2016. 

He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association and a Certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.  Kyle is an active member of USA Weightlifting, serving as the Club Director for Beacon Barbell.
