2023: Suriya missed the entire 2023 campaign due to injury.
2022: Appeared in 28 games and 99 sets... Suriya recorded 403 digs (4.07 per set) and 16 service aces on the season... Suriya's best game of the year came against Trinity Internation when she recorded 28 digs (9/27/2022)
2021: Appeared in 30 matches and 107 sets... recorded 449 digs to go along with 19 aces for the season... Suriya tallied her season high of 29 digs in a five set victory of Saint Francis (10/2/2021).Â
Previous School: Suriya attended Muskegon Community College her first year out of high school before arriving at IU South Bend in 2020-2021.
High School: Graduate of Mona Shores High School where she earned All conference honorable mention her sophomore season followed by All conference selections her junior and senior years. Van der Oord holds the Mona Shores High School single season digs record with 568 as well as second place all time in career digs with 1174. Academically, Suriya was a member of the National Honor Society.Â
Personal: Daughter to Peter Van der Oord and Michele Malboulf... Majoring in Rehabilitation Science... Born September 2, 2001.
