GARY, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend women's basketball came out on top with a 62-52 win at Indiana University Northwest, securing their eighth straight season opener victory while three players scored in double figures.

Junior Rachael Robards led the Titans after scoring all fifteen of her points behind the arc in 27 minutes of play. Right behind her was sophomore Katie Gard with 13 points while Emma Fisher added 10 points to the scoreboard and dished out four assists. The Titans had 11 steals with 15 turnovers compared to IU Northwest' five steals and 34 turnovers.
After a slow start for the Titans, senior Taitlyn Trenshaw scored the first points of the game for IUSB at the 2:19 mark knocking down a pair from the charity stripe. The Crimson and Cream ended the quarter on a 9-0 run until IUN Michaela Schmidt made a last second shot to end the quarter 12-9.
IUSB headed to the locker room down three, 26-23, after shooting just 23 percent from the field. The Titans returned to the floor looking to take the lead and fought back to keep the game close until the beginning of the fourth quarter. Robards hit back-to-back threes at the 6:56 mark to give IUSB the lead for the rest of the game.
The Titans (1-0) hit the road for their second game of the season on Monday, Dec. 7 to face Governors State in University Park, Ill.
