GRANGER, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend baseball team suffered its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference losses of the season Saturday, March 20, in a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Saint Xavier. IUSB snapped its four-game winning streak after dropping game one 10-0 and saw game two slip away, 8-5. The Titans fall to 5-12 on the season and 1-2 during conference play.

Game One: IUSB 0, SXU 10: The Titans were unable to muster much offense in game one as IUSB finished with three hits compared to 13 for the Cougars. IU South Bend left eight on base while SXU stranded 14.
Daniel Murcek tossed the final 2.0 innings, striking out two and did not allow a run for the scoreless innings in relief. Sophomore
Robbie Berger suffered his third loss of the season after registering the start that saw seven runs off seven hits.
Game Two: IUSB 5, SXU 8: The Cougars got out to a 4-0 lead but the Titans pulled within one after breaking the shutout with a three-run third inning.
Logan Smith got things started with a walk and a stolen base before
TJ DeHerrera wore a pitch to get on base.
Logan Young collected his lone RBI with a double down the left field line, bringing home Smith. DeHerrera came around to score off a wild pitch while Young scored on a
Jared Bais ground out.
Saint Xavier responded in the fourth inning with four more runs off three hits.
After being held scoreless in the bottom half, IU South Bend added two in the fifth to make the score, 8-5. DeHerrera and Bais were brought home but those were the final run productions for the Titans. IUSB stranded seven over the final four innings as the Cougars sealed the doubleheader sweep.
The Titans and Cougars close out the series tomorrow, March 21, with a 2 p.m. first pitch.
