IU South Bend secured its second conference victory of the season using four arms to hold the Cougars to just three runs in the finale. The Titans received an impressive start from junior transfer Bryson Taylor who picked up his second career win.

The right-hander worked a career-high six innings of five-hit baseball while racking up four strikeouts.

The trio of Kyle Hallberg, Cal Whitaker and Matt Rose combined to work the final three innings as the Titans mustered three runs off four hits across that span.

IU South Bend got out to an early lead with two runs in the first and third innings. The Titans continued to add to their lead throughout the afternoon, scoring two runs in the sixth a run in the seventh before the offense exploded with four in the top for the eighth.

Saint Xavier threatened in the bottom of the eighth with three runs but two IUSB runs in the ninth helped secure the conference victory.

Six different Titans of Jake Vanderwoude, Logan Smith, TJ DeHerrera, Jordan Moore, Scott Stetz and Colin Mack each contributed multi-hit outings, highlighted by a team-high three knocks from Vanderwoude. Moore connected on his second home run of the season while DeHerrera and Mack added extra base hits. The Titans return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 23 for a doubleheader clash with CCAC opponent Trinity International. First pitch against the Trojans is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Rex Weade Stadium.
