KOKOMO, Ind. – The IU South Bend offense struggled on Friday, as the Titans fell to Olivet Nazarene, in a doubleheader that was moved to Championship Park in Kokomo due to wet weather. IUSB dropped game 1, 10-0 before suffering an 11-3 loss to the Tigers in game 2.
Brett Sikorski picked up both base hits in the opening game for the Titans (9-18, 3-8 CCAC), finishing 2-for-3 with a double in the second inning. Olivet Nazarene (17-14, 10-2 CCAC) took an early lead with two runs in the top of the 1st, and extended the advantage to 6-0 in the 3rd inning with four more.
Jaidyn Morris had a strong outing in relief, pitching 2.1 innings without allowing a base hit. Zach Brooks Dehn and Max Govert combined for 1.1 innings without an earned run on the day as well.
In the second game of the day, Brenden Bell finished 5-for-5 at the plate, and Jake Vanderwoude went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI. The Tigers posted three runs in the top of the 1st, before Vanderwoude's infield single drove in Nolan Unger to cut the lead to 3-1.
Olivet Nazarene would pull away before a sacrifice fly from Colin Mack in the 8th inning and an RBI groundout from Vanderwoude in the 9th would add to the IUSB total on the scoreboard.
The Titans will look to get one back as the three-game series closes back at Rex Weade Stadium on Saturday afternoon. First pitch with ONU is set for 1:00 p.m.
