Titans soar passed Eagles for 9th straight win

ELGIN, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (19-1, 12-1 CCAC) defeated the Judson University Eagles (4-17, 3-10 CCAC) by a score of 71-53.

At 12-1 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, first place IU South Bend holds a half game lead over Indiana University Northwest who they square off with in their last regular season home game on Wednesday, February 15th, at 5:30 PM in the Student Activities Center. 

Taking their first lead at 4-2 early in the first quarter, the Titans held on to the lead for the remainder of the game. IU South Bend ended the first quarter on a 13-7 run to take an eight point lead into the second quarter. Tia Chambers led the way through the first ten minutes of play, scoring eight of her game high 16 points while knocking down all four shots she attempted in the first quarter. 

Judson outscored IU South Bend in the second quarter by one point, but the Titans still entered the locker room with a 36-29 lead. 

IU South Bend began to run away with Wednesday's contest by the end of the third quarter, thanks to seven third quarter points from Katie Gard. 

The fourth quarter featured more of the same, as IU South Bend outscored Judson by three points in the final 10 minutes on their way to a 71-53 victory. 

Four Titans reached double figures in scoring led by Tia Chambers who finished with 16 points in only 18 minutes of action. 

Next in line in scoring for IU South Bend was Katie Gard, who finished with 15 points on 5-11 shooting from the field while knocking down all three free throws she attempted. 

Emma Fisher was the leading rebounder for the Titans as she notched her first double-double of the season by scoring 10 points and securing 11 rebounds while playing a team high 34 minutes.

The last Titan to reach double figures was Maddie Gard, scoring 10 points on 4-5 shooting from the field. With 10 points on Wednesday, Gard has now scored double digits in all but one game this season.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, January 28th, when they look to sweep the season series over Governors State at 1:00 PM in the Student Activities Center.
