Titans defeat Trinity Christian in low scoring contest

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (15-1, 9-1 CCAC) defeated the Trinity Christian College Trolls (6-11,3-7 CCAC) by a score of 58-24. Saturday's victory moves the Titans into a tie for first place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The winner of the IU South Bend vs. Saint Xavier game on Wednesday, January 11th, will move into first place overall in the CCAC. 

The top scorer and only IU South Bend Titan in double figures was senior guard Maddie Gard who finished with 16 points on 7-11 shooting from the field, including knocking down a season high two three point field goals in the process. Gard also finished three rebounds shy of a double-double, hauling in seven rebounds. 

Senior guard Emma Fisher finished with the lead in assists and rebounds, dishing out six assists and hauling in eight boards in a team high 31 minutes of playing time. 

Rachael Robards finished with nine points on 40% from beyond the three point line. Robards' two three point field goals marks here ninth game this season with multiple three pointers made. 

A vicious IU South Bend defense forced the Trolls to turn the ball over 18 times in the contest which the Titans converted into 16 points. IU South Bend did not allow double digit points in any of the four quarters, holding Trinity Christian to a season low 24 total points. 

The Indiana University South Bend Titans reutrn to action on Wednesday, January 11th, when they travel to Chicago, Ill. to take on the Cougars of Saint Xavier University at 5:00 PM for sole possession of first place in the CCAC.
