Titans defeat Aquinas on the road 91-56

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (2-0, 0-0 CCAC) defeated the Aquinas College Saints (1-1, 0-0 WHAC) by a final score of 91-56. 

The IU South Bend Titans jumped out to an early 31-15 through one quarter of play behind 10 first quarter points from guard Maddie Gard

The second quarter featured more success for the Titans as IUSB doubled the Saints scoring totals, outscoring Aquinas 26-13 to take a 57-28 lead heading into halftime. Katie Gard produced a quarter high eight points in the second quarter. 

IU South Bend proceeded to win both the third and fourth quarters and ultimately go on to win Wednesday's contest by a final score of 91-56. 

The IU South Bend offense featured five different Titans to record double figures, led by Katie Gard who finished with a game high 19 points. 

Gard's 19 points came on 50% shooting from the field while also posting an IUSB career high five three point field goals. Gard also led the Titans on the glass, securing a team high eight rebounds. 

Senior guard Jazmen Watts was next in line in scoring for the Titans, tallying a career high 17 points. 

Watts' 17 points came on efficient shooting from all parts of the court as she shot 6-9 from the field, 3-6 from the three point line, and 2-3 from the free throw line. 

Maddie Gard and Tenleigh Phelps both posted 16 points while playing in more than 25 minutes in Wednesday's lopsided victory. 

Gard's 16 points came on just under 50% shooting from the field while knocking down three of the four free throws she attempted. Gard also led the IU South Bend defense in steals with five. 

Phelps' 16 points came on a team high 75% shooting from the field while also leading the Titans in free throws made with four. 

The last IU South Bend Titan to record double figures was junior guard Sullivan Kessler who finished with a career high 12 points. 

Kessler's 12 points came on 50% shooting from the field, 75% shooting from the free throw line while also knocking down the only three point field goal she attempted. Kessler also hauled in a career high five rebounds in the 91-56 victory over Aquinas. 

Guard Emma Fisher finished just short of double figures, finishing with eight points while only missing one field goal attempt. 

Fisher flirted with triple-double status posting a final stat line of eight points, nine assists, and six rebounds. 

As a team, IU South Bend shot exactly 50% from the field and better than 40% from beyond the three point line. 

Defensively, the Titans forced 30 turnovers that led to 46 points off of those turnovers. 

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, November 4th, when they travel to Circleville, Ohio, to take on Ohio Christian University at 1:00 PM ET.
