LEBANON, Tenn.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (4-12, 0-0 CCAC) wrapped up a five game road trip with four games against #7 Georgia Gwinnett College and a single nine inning game against Cumberland University.
The Titans finished the trip 0-5 with losses to Georgia Gwinnett by scores of 6-3, 8-4, 10-5, 10-2. The Titans concluded their trip with a whopping 23-17 loss to Cumberland University.
Game 1
Home runs by
Kaleb Farnham and
Owen Benson provided the scoring for the Titans in the 6-3 loss.
Senior right handed pitcher
Robbie Berger suffered the loss in game one going three and one third innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out three.
Game 2
A three run home run off the bat of
Brenden Bell gave the Titans a 3-0 lead through the first inning of play.
Four runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, and three more in the six provided to big of a hole for IU South Bend to dig out from as they ultimately lost the seven inning contest by a score of 8-4.
Game 3
The IU South Bend pitching staff gave up six runs through five innings of work before another
Brenden Bell home run brought the Titans within one swing of the bat, down 6-2.
A sixth inning Georgia Gwinnett grand slam extended the Grizzlies lead 10-2 through six innings.
Three IU South Bend runs in the seventh thanks to a
Drew Barber two RBI single brought the Titans closer, but they ultimately fell 10-5 in game three.
Game 4
A third home run on the trip for
Brenden Bell gave the Titans a 2-0 lead to begin the game before the Georgia Gwinnett offense came to life by scoring in every inning except the third and seventh to give them the victory 10-2 and sweep IU South Bend in the weekend series.
Game 5
The Titans squared off with Cumberland University in the final game of the road trip and game five did not disappoint. A combined 40 runs on 35 hits found IU South Bend on the losing side of the slugfest, dropping Monday's contest 23-17.
Brett Sikorski led the Titans offense in game five with 5 RBI thanks to two long balls in the third and ninth innings.
Logan Smith,
Anthony Pohl, and
Kole Miller all had at least three hits with Smith driving in three runs on four hits including a home run.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Wednesday, March 1st, when they travel to Marion, Ind., to take on Indiana Wesleyan University at 3:00 PM ET.
