Record breaking night leads IU South Bend to victory over Holy Cross

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (19-0,11-0 CCAC) defeated the Holy Cross College Saints (8-11,5-6 CCAC) by a final score of 80-45.

Wednesday's win keep the Titans in sole possession of first place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference at a perfect 11-0.

With her first made basket less than two minutes into the game, fifth year guard Katie Gard surpassed 1,500 career points, just the sixth player in program history to reach the milestone.

With 19 rebounds on Wednesday, Tenleigh Phelps broke the IUSB Women's Basketball single game record for rebounds in a game, a record that has stood for nearly 20 years.

A balanced Titans offense featured four different Titans to score in double figures, led by 1,500 point club member Katie Gard who finished with 27 points.

Gard's 27 points came on better than 50% shooting from the field while also tying a career high for three pointers made with six.

The next Titan to record double figures in the scoring column was fifth year guard Maddie Gard who finished with 22 points.

Gard's 22 points came in a game high 35 minutes of action while also reaching double-double status and falling just four rebounds short of breaking the single game rebound record herself by finishing with a career high 15 rebounds.

The next Titan to score in double figures was IUSB single game rebound record holder Tenleigh Phelps who finished with 14 points.

Phelps' 14 points came on better than 50% shooting from the field while also securing 19 rebounds, good for her fifth double-double of the season.

The last Titan to record double figures in the scoring column was guard Jazmen Watts who finished with 10 points.

Watts' 10 points came on 40% shooting from the field while knocking down two three point field goals for the seventh time this season.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, January 27th, when they travel to Palos Heights, Ill., to take on the Trolls of Trinity Christian College at 2:00 PM ET.
