SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (0-16, 0-2 CCAC) lost in four sets to the Trinity Christian College Trolls (2-11, 0-2 CCAC) by scores of 28-30, 22-25, 25-23, and 25-20 to drop the CCAC affair.
Tied late in the first set at 24-24 the Titans and Trolls traded points back and forth until IU South Bend gained a 28-27 advantage. Down to their final point, Trinity Christian scored the final three points of the set to take set one 30-28.
IU South Bend fell behind at 10-9 and stayed within striking distance until they took the lead late in set two 21-20. However, Trinity Christian would go on to score five of the final six points to take set two by a score of 25-22.
Set three proved to be a momentum shifting set with the Trolls scoring five of the first six points before the Titans came back to tie the set at 7-7. Down as late as 23-22, IU South Bend won the final three points to take the set 25-23.
Once again in set four IUSB fell behind early but remained close tying the game at both 13-13 and 18-18. However, Trinity Christian went on to win seven of the last nine points to win the match in four sets.
The IU South Bend offense was led by hitters
Ryleigh Grott and
Audrey Buis who both finished with double digit kills, Grott with 16 and Buis with 11 while setter
Emma Knowlton led the passing game with 34 assists. Five different IUSB defenders finished with double digit digs, led by
Sydney Hanna who finished with a team high 18.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, September 14th, when they travel to Richmond, Ind., for a rematch against the Indiana University East Red Wolves at 2:00 PM ET.
