DAVENPORT, Iowa- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (0-18, 0-3 CCAC) drop the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match to the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees (6-10, 1-3 CCAC) by scores of 25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 23-25.
Tied at 10-10 in set one, IU South Bend rattled off five points in a row to gain a 15-10 lead. The Titans held on to the lead for the remainder of set one to take a 25-23 victory in the first set.
The Titans fell to a 10-6 deficit in set two before rallying to tie the game at 11-11. IUSB came within two points trailing 19-17 before the Fighting Bees scored six of the next eight points to lead them to a 25-19 victory in set two.
IU South Bend jumped out to a 6-0 lead in set three before Saint Ambrose came storming back to take a 14-11 lead. The Titans then regained the lead at 16-14 before Saint Ambrose ran away with set three, winning 25-20.
Set four proved to be a back and forth match with the Titans gaining an early 8-6 advantage before the Fighting Bees rattled off six points in a row to take a 12-8 lead. Tied at 22-22 later in the set, Saint Ambrose went on to win three of the next four points to take set four 25-23.
The IU South Bend offense was led by
Ryleigh Grott and
Macy Sherman who each finished with double digit kills, Grott with 16 and Sherman with 10 while setters
Emma Knowlton and
Brynn Lake each tallied double digit assists. The Titans defense was anchored by defensive specialist
Sydney Hanna who finished with a game high 31 digs.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, September 21st, when they travel to La Crosse, Wisconsin, to take on Viterbo University at 2:00 PM ET.
