GOSHEN, Ind. --- IU South Bend women's basketball started the 2025-26 season on a high note Wednesday night, earning a 78-66 victory on the road at Goshen College. The win marked the Titans' 13th consecutive season-opening triumph, a streak that stretches back to 2012.

After a sluggish start in the first quarter, the Titans found their rhythm in the second, outscoring the Maple Leafs 25-15 to take control of the game. IU South Bend led 39-34 at halftime and never relinquished its advantage the rest of the way.

Senior forward Tenleigh Phelps anchored the Titans on both ends of the floor, posting a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double to open her season. Bradie Chambers followed with 16 points and three assists, while Aubrie Booker added 11 points and eight boards.

As a team, IU South Bend shot 44.8 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the free throw line, dominating inside with a 42-32 edge in points in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 41-38. The Titans also forced 19 turnovers, turning them into 17 points on the other end.

Lindsay Arcella provided a lift off the bench with 10 points, while Ava Grant chipped in nine points and six rebounds. Kenzie Fulks directed the offense effectively, tallying four assists and seven points.

IU South Bend extended its lead to double digits midway through the third quarter, with Chambers and Phelps combining for a key 8-0 run that pushed the margin to 10. The Titans led by as many as 15 in the final period before sealing the win with steady free-throw shooting.

The victory moves IU South Bend to 1-0 on the season, while Goshen falls to 0-1. Next up for the Titans is a bout against Taylor University on Saturday on the road at 7:00 pm.
