CHICAGO, IL - The IU South Bend women's volleyball team (5-11, 1-1 CCAC) fell to Saint Xavier University (3-4, 2-1 CCAC) in a four-set match (24-26, 25-19, 12-25, 16-25) at the Shannon Center on Thursday night.
After a close battle in the first set, which went to Saint Xavier, the Titans rallied back to win the second set 25-19, tying the match at 1-1. However, the Cougars proved to be too much in the final two sets, taking them 25-12 and 25-16 to secure the victory.
The Titans were led by a trio of attackers who all had multiple kills. Alyssa Carson led the team with 10 kills, followed by Taylor Hostetler with 9, and Emalee Maesch with 7.
On the defensive end, the Titans had a strong performance in digs and blocks. Sydney Hanna had a game-high 34 digs, while Emalee Maesch and Emily Adams contributed 12 and 9 respectively. At the net, Kendall Gerdes and Ryleigh Grott each had two blocks.
IU South Bend will be in action at home next on Tuesday September 16 vs Saint Francis. Game time is 7:00 PM.
