Titans Battle NCAA Division I Ball State in Midweek Tune-Up

MUNCIE, Ind. --- IU South Bend stepped outside conference play Wednesday afternoon, squaring off against NCAA Division I opponent Ball State University at Shebek Stadium.

While the Cardinals' lineup proved explosive in a 25-7 final, the Titans found some offensive rhythm against high-level competition — an encouraging sign as they prepare to wrap up CCAC play this weekend.

IU South Bend totaled seven runs on seven hits in the contest, highlighted by a big fourth inning. Lenox Estremera delivered the biggest swing of the day with a three-RBI triple to left-center, igniting a four-run frame. Moments later, Luis Turmero followed with an RBI single to continue the rally.

In the fifth, the Titans added three more runs. Estremera picked up another RBI on a groundout, and Lucas Brown drove in two with a single to center as IU South Bend continued to compete offensively.

Turmero finished with two hits and an RBI, while Estremera nabbed four RBIs and Brown logged two. The Titans also worked seven walks against Ball State pitching.

The Titans are set for their final conference series, beginning on Friday with a doubleheader at home against Judson.
