Box Score NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Despite leading by seven at halftime, the Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team was outscored 34-22 in the second half en route to an 59-55 loss at crosstown rival Holy Cross on Wednesday night in its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener.

The Titans put together a strong performance in the first half, holding Holy Cross to just 38.5 percent shooting from the field while IUSB went 12-of-26 from the field which five of them came from three-point territory. However, in the second half the Saints held the Crimson & Cream to just 34.8 percent from the floor, collecting just one-of-seven from behind the arc to pull away.
Senior transfer Kourtlandt Martin was the lone Titan in double figures with a game-high 17 points. Martin was 6-of-10 from the field while junior Norell Smith ranked first on the team with eight of the team's 27 total rebounds.
Behind Martin in scoring was junior guard Dylan Allen with eight points while both Miles Tracy and Donyell Meredith II added seven each.
As a team the Titans shot just 40.8 percent from the field while going 6-of-16 from long distance. IUSB earned nine points from the free-throw line while HCC went 12-of-13 from the charity stripe.
IUSB turned the ball over 14 times while HCC had 10 on the night. The Saints edged the Titans in rebounds, 34-33, assists, 10-3, and blocks, eight to two.
IU South Bend returns home on Saturday, Nov. 16 to host CCAC foe and ranked opponent Olivet Nazarene at 3:00 p.m. inside the Student Activities Center.
