Box Score SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend women's basketball is off to its best start since the 2009-10 season with an impressive 80-71 victory over a team that is receiving votes to be in the NAIA Division II Top-25 poll, Huntington University, on Friday evening. The Titans improve to a perfect 5-0, the first time since 2009 under head coach Steve Bruce.

The Titans jumped out early in the first quarter, outscoring their opponents by 11 before the Foresters bounced back with a 20-14 advantage in the second stanza as the scoreboard read 40-35 in favor of IUSB.
Once again the Foresters controlled the third quarter with a 21-17 advantage until the Titans sealed the victory with a strong fourth quarter. With the score tied at 60-60, freshman Maddie Gard hit back-to-back three-points to put the Titans back up six. Senior Kyleigh Kubik hit a clutch three with three minutes left to help IUSB take the fifth victory of the season.
Freshman Maddy Schumacher scored a career-high 20 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists while both guards Kubik and Taitlyn Trenshaw added 12 points. Maddie Gard was the final Titan in double-figures with 11 points to go along with a game-high three steals.
As a team, IUSB for the game shot 53.4 percent from the field. The Titans had 17 turnovers to Huntington's 19 with IUSB scoring 26 off turnovers. IUSB dominated in the paint scoring 40 points to the Foresters 32. Off the bench the Crimson & Cream scored 43 points, improving its record to 5-0 when scoring over 20 points off the bench.
The Titans return home tomorrow to host No. 22 UM Dearborn at 1 p.m. inside the SAC.
