No. 20 Titans Toppled by No. 8 Fighting Saints

SOUTH BEND Ind. – The No. 20 Indiana University South Bend women's basketball team saw its 12-game winning streak snapped after the loss to the No. 8 St. Francis Fighting Saints in Wednesday evening's contest on Jan. 22 inside the Student Activities Center. Following the 69-42 loss the Titans drop to 19-2 overall and 11-2 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletics Conference play.

The Saints entered the matchup ranked second in the National Association Intercollegiate Athletics Division II allowing just 53.1 points per game. USF held the Titans to a season-low 42 points in the game, handing IUSB its second loss during the 2019-20 campaign

Senior Kyleigh Kubik led the offense for the Titans with 14 points while freshman Maddie Gard added 13 points to go along with a team-high two assists. The Fighting Saints put the pressure on by holding IUSB to 2-of-17 (11.8 percent) from distance and outrebounded the Titans 34-26.

The Saints started things early, leading by 12 at the end of the first stanza and would lead wire-to-wire. The largest lead for USF occurred with one-minute remaining in the game as St. Francis held a 28-point advantage. St. Francis capitalized on 21 Titan miscues, scoring an astonishing 21 points. IUSB was outscored in the paint 28-16 while St. Francis added 17 assists compared to just four from the Titans on Wednesday. 

The Titans look to bounce back as they travel to Robert Morris University Illinois on Saturday, Jan. 25 for a 2:00 p.m. (EST) tipoff in Chicago, Ill.
