GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The IU South Bend Titans found themselves on the losing end of a Friday afternoon doubleheader. In the first match, the Titans were bested by the Knights of Madonna University, 15-25, 21-25, 19-25. Unable to bounce back, IU South Bend lost the back end of the doubleheader to the Bethel Pilots, 16-25, 19-25, 15-25. 

Amber Jacobs and Abby Seeger sparked the Titans offense with 16 kills each. Junior McKenzie Powell led the IU South Bend passing attack with 11 assists against Madonna and 14 more against Bethel. Suriya Van der Oord anchored the Titans defense with a total of 14 digs on the day. 

Madonna University outside hitter Molly Miller did a little bit of everything in the first match of the day, tallying 10 kills, four aces, and two blocks. Knights setter Kacie Stoneburner flourished in the passing game with 30 assists in three sets. 

A balanced Bethel offense featured three different players with at least eight kills or more, Cheyanne Seymour (8), Madyson Beaver (8), Hanah Weiss (11). The Pilots passing game took flight with the help of 19 assists by Madyson Beaver and 16 assists by Elise Schildermans. 

The IU South Bend Titans quickly return to action tomorrow Saturday, Aug. 27th, at 11:00 AM against William Penn University. Shortly after, the Titans conclude weekend play with a 3:00 PM match against host Aquinas College.
