Titans Prep for a Pair of Road Games to Open the Season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend women's basketball hits the roads for a pair of away games at Indiana University Northwest on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. and Governors State on Monday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. to open up the 2020-21 season.

The Titans look to capture their eighth straight season opener on Saturday against the IU Northwest Redhawks. IUSB holds a 10-9 overall record over the Redhawks with its last showdown on Jan. 29 ending in a nail-biting 67-61 loss for the Titans.
 
Last season the Crimson and Cream averaged 74.4 ppg and bagged a record-breaking season with an overall record of 25-7 and 16-6 in conference play. Leading the team was All-CCAC Second Team player Maddie Gard, who shot an outstanding 52.7 percent from the field and netted 439 points (13.7 ppg) during her freshman debut.
 
Point guards Taitlyn Trenshaw and Emma Fisher combined last year for nearly 50 percent of the teams total assists with Rachael Robards leading the boards with 4.4 rpg. IU Northwest enters Saturday's game with an overall record of 1-4 after suffering a loss to No. 16 St. Francis (Ill.) on Nov. 24.
 
Governors State welcomes the Titans on Monday, Dec. 7 after losing to the IU Kokomo Cougars on Nov. 24. The Jaguar return their leading scorer Sharnita Breeze who averaged 16.6 ppg during the 2019-20 seasn. Monday will be the eleventh time the two teams have faced with the Titans holding a 7-3 record over the Jaguars. The last time the two teams met, IUSB traveled to University Park, Ill. On Jan. 8 and left with a 79-57 win over Governors State.
