CHICAGO --- Following the 2026 campaign, IU South Bend baseball earned recognition from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), placing four student-athletes on the All-Conference Team while also securing two Gold Glove selections.

Junior Luis Turmero led the way as a First Team All-CCAC selection, while seniors Lucas Brown, Josiah Nelson, and Nick Turner were each named Second Team All-CCAC. Additionally, Sam Garner and Josiah Nelson earned CCAC Gold Glove honors for their defensive excellence.

First Team All-CCAC
Luis Turmero | Junior | Designated Hitter

In his first season with the Titans after transferring from Coastal Bend College, junior Luis Turmero made an immediate impact as one of the team's most productive hitters while splitting time between designated hitter and catcher.

Turmero appeared in 45 games and hit .291 with 53 hits, 45 RBI, and 10 home runs, posting a .516 slugging percentage. His ability to drive in runs consistently made him a key presence in the middle of the lineup.

He finished the regular season red-hot at the plate, notching a multi-hit game in five of the last six games. Over those last six games, Turmero logged 10 hits and five RBIs.

Second Team All-CCAC Selections
Lucas Brown | Senior | Middle Infielder

Senior infielder Lucas Brown provided consistency at the plate and in the field throughout the season. He appeared in 48 games, batting .293 with 28 runs scored, 22 RBI, and 43 hits.

Brown's value showed in his ability to consistently reach base, leading the team with a .477 on-base percentage. He also was a reliable defender in the middle, recording a team-high 102 assists, while aiding 21 double plays.

Josiah Nelson | Senior | Outfielder

Senior outfielder Josiah Nelson capped off a standout career by earning Second Team All-CCAC honors while also being named IU South Bend Male Athlete of the Year.

Nelson hit .338 with 66 hits, 41 RBI, and eight home runs, while adding 21 stolen bases and a .549 slugging percentage, making him one of the most dynamic players in the conference.

He put together several dominant stretches during the season, including a nine-game hitting streak to start the year.  He also put together a dominant showing against Viterbo on March 13, going 3-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and a home run.

Nick Turner | Senior | Catcher

Senior catcher Nick Turner earned Second Team recognition after a strong final season in South Bend. He hit .256 with 31 hits and 33 RBI, including seven doubles and three home runs.

Turner's biggest moment came on April 4 against St. Ambrose, when he delivered a 4-for-5 performance with six RBIs and three doubles, marking one of the most explosive offensive games by a Titan this season.

Behind the plate, Turner was equally valuable, totaling 177 putouts and 28 assists.

Gold Glove Honors
Sam Garner | Junior | Third Baseman

Junior third baseman Sam Garner was named to the CCAC Gold Glove Team after an outstanding defensive season. He recorded 104 total chances, tallying 23 putouts and 72 assists, while turning four double plays.

Garner also contributed offensively, hitting .280, and showed his impact on both sides of the ball during an early April stretch, including a three-hit, three-RBI performance against St. Ambrose (April 4).

Josiah Nelson | Senior | Outfielder

Adding to his postseason accolades, Nelson also earned Gold Glove honors for his play in the outfield. He totaled 105 chances with 101 putouts and just one error, finishing with a .990 fielding percentage.
